This site has been a long time in the making.  Nearly two years ago, I possessed the desire to express myself in a forum that would understand and relate to my ideas.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, this gestation period allowed me to refine my thoughts on the world and refrain from sharing them with my audience until now.  I have several intentions for this site, all of which will allow me to express my creative, quarky, thoughtful, and sometimes unpopular viewpoints.

First, and most importantly for me, I intend Jarjac to be a home for my mind.  I find in today’s world, there are simply not enough opportunities to express one’s inner monologue with the rest of the world.  While I value efficiency and productivity, in the marketplace of ideas, very few words of commentary, education, and interpretation can be considered wasteful.  While I doubt I’m usually right—actually I’m rarely right—I desire a place where I can consider my playground.  I need a comfort zone where I feel uninhibited by the boundaries of daily life to speak my mind.  Regardless of whether there is an audience for this site, Jarjac will fill my personal need to analyze my surroundings.  From this analysis, I wish to improve myself and expand my horizons.  For me, home is where my head is and I welcome you to my home.

Second, I do not believe I can truly improve upon myself alone.  That is why I’ve encouraged several close friends of mine, whom I believe share a similar goal and share valuable thoughts eloquently.  The purpose of depersonalizing the blog, an idea contrary to most blogs on the web today, is to create a dialogue.  First, I know my friends will disagree with me at times.  I actively seek their dissent.  This is important, and I find that blogs today rarely incorporate different opinions.  In addition, I am excited by the prospect of creating an online publication with character developed from a variety of different voices sharing thoughts and ideas.  Besides, I consider this site a learning experience for myself, and I see diversity as a healthy addition to the site.

Third, while I cannot be certain there will be an audience, I have a desire to speak my mind to those who are willing to listen.  I hope I have something to offer to you, my reader.  I welcome you to Jarjac and I encourage you to send any of us an email to simply say hi, or to offer your own feedback on anything you read.  I am also excited to be able to share with you future additions to this site that we are working on to improve the community aspects.

Enjoy,

Ryan
